About the Data Centre

The KBA makes important contributions towards road safety, environmental protection, and the provision of information on road traffic. The research data centre Forschungsdatenzentrum im Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (FDZ im KBA) provides anonymised quantitative microdata for scientific research. Depending on the degree of data anonymity, scientific use files are available for download (off-site) or during a research visit at the research data centre (on-site). Data documentation is available on the website (only in German).

The data offered by the FDZ im KBA includes at the moment information about additions to the Register of Driver Fitness (Fahreignungsregister) which records the following decisions:

  • Legally binding decisions concerning criminal or administrative offences if they are listed in Annex 13 to Section 40 Fahrerlaubnis-Verordnung (FeV)
  • Decisions made by the driving licence authorities concerning the withdrawal, refusal or newly grant of driving licences
  • Decisions concerning measures provided for by the Fahreignungs-Bewertungssystem, the Driver Fitness Assessment System
