Data strategy and registry data thought together

The German Data Forum (RatSWD)welcomes the strong anchoring of research in the Federal Government's data strategy. Potentials of the scientific use of data for evidence-based policy advice are emphasised. Register modernisation is an important part of the strategy. However, one searches in vain for research clauses in the Register Modernisation Act, which was passed by the Bundestag one day later. A stronger consideration of science in the upcoming register modernisation, however, opens up opportunities for groundbreaking research relevant to society. The RatSWD therefore calls for the research clauses proposed in the data strategy to be implemented in future legislative initiatives.
