RatSWD Statement on the Development of the NFDI

In its latest statement, the RatSWD refers to the report by the German Council of Science and Humanities (WR) and the report by the German Council for Information Infrastructures (RFII) on the structural evaluation of the NFDI.

A sustainable and reliable (research) data infrastructure is of great value to society. It strengthens research in Germany, increases innovative capacity, and improves the basis for political decision-making. The RatSWD therefore welcomes the recommendation by both the German Council of Science and Humanities (WR) and the Council for Information Infrastructures (RfII) to make the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) permanent. At the same time, the RatSWD calls for the NFDI to continue to be organised on a bottom-up basis and for communities and services to remain directly involved in the NFDI.
