Research Data Center of the German Youth Institute (FDZ-DJI)
As a non-university research institute, the German Youth Institute has been conducting regular empirical studies since 1988 on the upbringing of children and young people, as well as on the living conditions of adults and families. The Research Data Centre is based within the ‘Centre for Longitudinal Studies and Methods’. It processes the data and provides access to it for secondary analyses.

Services
The core service comprises the provision of data and a wide range of materials for data documentation via the research database’s online platform.
Data Access Mode
Through the FDZ-DJI, the anonymised and processed data from most of the studies conducted at the DJI are available to download free of charge as Scientific Use Files in Stata format. Depending on the chosen level of anonymisation, it may be necessary to enter into a written data use agreement in order to access the data. For particularly sensitive variables, on-site access at a guest researcher workstation is also offered. Use of the data is permitted exclusively for scientific research purposes, and any commercial use is prohibited. Applications for data use may be submitted by researchers at universities and research institutions, as well as by students (BA, MA, PhD).
