Persistent identifiers for variables
Making the content of any datasets referenceable and findable.
The aim here is to develop a scalable and secure technical solution to, e.g., reference particular variables within a dataset at da|ra. Such a solution not only allows for unique citation at a variable and concept level but also the clear and permanent identification of significant data objects via new FAIR-compliant interfaces (e.g., the Digital Object Interface Protocol – DOIP) for data exchange.
